Jose Melendez
Jose Melendez is the president of Melendez Insurance Group (MIG). He has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and has been helping businesses of all sizes with their risk management needs with an emphasis on long-term relationship building as well as excellent customer service. MIG prides itself on procuring the best insurance coverage using innovative risk management solutions at the most competitive price.
Prior to starting Melendez Insurance Group, Jose spent over 15 years in various leadership roles that consisted of strategic development, sales, service and operations management in the financial services area. Jose has worked with companies such as LaSalle Bank/Bank of America, Charter One Bank and American General Finance-a subsidiary of AIG. Jose's current and past business, professional and community involvement has been with the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (advisor and premier member), Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce (past president), Catholic Charities (current advisory board member), East Village Youth Program (former advisory board member), Eighteen Street Development Corp (former board member), founder and past president of Latino Professionals for a Cause, and finally Mr. Melendez served on a corporate board-Martingale National Insurance Company (subsidiary of largest insurance company in Puerto Rico) from 2008-2014. MIG won the Agency of the Year award for its contributions to local charities by Erie Insurance in 2015. Jose was named as Negocios Now who's who in business in 2022.
Jose studied finance at Loyola University Chicago, completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small business entrepreneurship business program in 2014, Board Room Bound class of 2009 and Metropolitan Leadership Institute class of 2006. In his free time, he enjoys travel, golf, games, reading and spending time with his family and friends. Jose lives in Chicago, IL with his wife Jessica, and his daughters Alejandra and Tatiana.
