Position Title: Director of Development

Position Description:

The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director. They play a lead role in developing, managing and administrating CLATA’s strategic fundraising plan. The Director of Development will work collaboratively with other department heads at CLATA. The Director of Development will help forge new relationships to build CLATA’s visibility, impact and financial resources. S/he/they will expand and diversify CLATA’s donor base/pipeline and work closely with Board Directors and Staff to secure funding for new initiatives. CLATA expects that the amount raised for its programs and initiatives will increase in future years as the Director of Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization’s overall fundraising capacity.

Accountable to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:

-Responsible for developing, managing and administering the annual fundraising plan.

-Oversee and execute all institutional messaging and communication efforts and activities of CLATA including, but not limited to e-blasts, social media and CLATA website.

-Coordinate with the Executive Director the establishment of a Resource Development Committee made up of the Board of Directors members and meet on a quarterly basis or as needed.

-Research prospective private and public donors/sources and fundraising trends that will increase CLATA’s donor base and ensure that CLATA is current with major funding trends and changes.

-Maintain personal contact and coordinate all communication with all actual and prospective public, private and individual donors.

-Monitor all donor information with the use of fundraising databases to provide and present analysis to the Board and Executive Director.

-Manage and expand CLATA membership program.

-Develop stewardship programs and activities to solicit and cultivate individual donors for contributions to CLATA.

-Write proposals and reports to select donor prospects as needed.

-Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on any fundraising campaigns as determined by the Board of Directors.

-Develop an individual giving/membership plan for CLATA with clear goals and benchmarks.

-Supervise, evaluate and mentor Development Department staff.

Position Qualifications:

-Excellent communication skills. (Must submit writing samples).

-Bilingual communication skills preferred (English/Spanish preferred).

-Excellent Interpersonal skills.

-Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines and keep executive director informed of progress.

Education and Experience:

-Minimum Baccalaureate degree preferred but will consider candidates with a proven five year minimum history in development/institutional giving.

-Minimum of five years experience in development/institutional giving.

-Previous experience as a development director or associate director is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

-Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

-Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

-Must have a vehicle or access to a vehicle.

-Hybrid work schedule. Mondays and Fridays work remotely. Tuesday through Thursday work in person. This can be subject to change.

-Must be flexible with work hours during run of festival.

-Must be able to travel locally, nationally and internationally.

-Salary range is $80,500 - $90,500 commensurate with experience.

Position Title: Project Developer Consultant

Position Description:

This is a contract position for a Project Developer who will be responsible for identifying, securing, and developing a multipurpose facility for CLATA's future home, ultimately ensuring the creation of a vibrant and sustainable artistic hub for the Chicago Latino theatre community. This employee will understand the community development system, Chicago theatre and arts landscape, and will strategize and execute the development plan, and manage all aspects of the project from conception to completion. The Project Developer will have the support of CLATA's board and staff, but will also work directly with upper management and have a high degree of autonomy.

Accountable to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:

  1. Site Acquisition:

-Identify and evaluate potential locations for CLATA's new home, considering factors such as accessibility, affordability, zoning, and community needs.

-Negotiate with property owners to secure leases, purchase agreements, or other forms of site control.

-Manage the due diligence process, including environmental assessments, title searches, and feasibility studies.

-Coordinate the assessment and financial feasibility of the real estate development project.

-Coordinate and secure capital required to complete the development project including but not limited to applying for City of Chicago grants, CDFI loans, philanthropic grants and others.

  1. Project Planning and Development:

-Develop a comprehensive project plan with timelines, budgets, and milestones.

-Work with architects, engineers, and other consultants to design CLATA's new home, ensuring it meets the needs of the organization and the community.

-Secure all necessary permits and approvals from local authorities.

-Oversee the construction process, ensuring quality and adherence to budget and schedule.

  1. Community Engagement:

-Build relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, artists, elected officials, and potential donors.

-Secure community buy-in for the project and address any concerns.

-Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to support the project.

  1. Management and Reporting:

-Identify, recruit, and manage a strong team of contractors and consultants.

-Prepare and present reports to CLATA's Executive Director and staff on the progress of the project on a weekly basis.

-Monitor project budgets and expenditures.

  1. Market Research and Analysis:

-Stay informed about trends in the Chicago arts landscape and potential impacts on CLATA's development plans.

-Identify opportunities for partnerships and collaborations with other organizations.

Position Qualifications:

-At least 2 years of experience in real estate development or a related field.

-Thorough understanding of the Chicago arts landscape, zoning regulations, and construction processes.

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to tailor communication to different types of audiences.

-Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.

-Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

-Proven track record of success in project management.

-Direct experience creating development budgets and operating proformas

-Direct experience or working knowledge of community development incentives and tools (e.g., TIF, NOF,NMTC, LIHTC, etc.)

-Enthusiasm and passion for the arts and CLATA's mission.

Compensation:

Position Title: Executive Assistant

Position Description:

CLATA, a leading organization dedicated to advocating for Latino theater in Chicago, is searching for an Executive Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with leadership, contribute to a meaningful mission, and be at the heart of a passionate and collaborative organization. This is a part-time position twenty hours a week.

Accountable to: Executive Director

Responsibilities:

-Provide comprehensive administrative support to CLATA's Executive Director and senior leadership team.

-Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and travel arrangements, ensuring smooth workflow and optimal time utilization.

-Process incoming inquiries and direct them to appropriate individuals.

-Draft and proofread correspondence, presentations, and other documents.

-Prepare meeting agendas and minutes, taking accurate notes and action items.

-Organize and maintain confidential files and databases. -Manage expense reports and petty cash.

-Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, fostering positive relationships.

-Anticipate needs and proactively handle administrative tasks and projects.

-Manage CLATA's social media presence.

Compensation:

-This is a part-time position of up to twenty five hours a week with increased hours during festival runs.

-This position pays $25 per hour.
